The Pride Lands vision starts with “To help guide children through to adulthood…”
As part of that we do our best to help our cubs transition into the workforce, and setting them up with work experience is a key part of that.
Work experience is a great example of how Pride Lands works with businesses and organisations in the community to get good outcomes for everyone involved. We do our very best to prepare our young adults, and to find placements that suit them, and we rely on businesses and organisations to offer placements and welcome our cubs.
When it all falls into place, everyone wins.
Recently the Paper Bag Princess affordable second hand clothing shop on Cuba St. accepted two Pride Lands cubs on a work experience program, and we couldn’t resist showing you the letter they sent us when Logan and Caesar finished up with them.
Supporting Our Youth: A Week with Pride Lands
Kia ora koutou,
We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming two amazing young people, Logan and Caesar, from Pride Lands into our Paper Bag Princess whānau for a work experience placement.
From the moment they arrived, their enthusiasm and curiosity brought a real spark to our store. They jumped right in learning about how we run our business, connect with our customers, and the little things that make Paper Bag Princess what it is: a space where creativity, sustainability, and individuality meet.
We were so impressed by their willingness to learn and their positive attitude throughout the week. It’s inspiring to see young people who are open to exploring new paths, asking great questions, and putting in the mahi to understand what it takes to be part of a local business.
At Paper Bag Princess, we believe in community and connection. Supporting youth initiatives like Pride Lands is part of what keeps our local networks strong. The work Moses and the Pride Lands team do, mentoring, guiding, and creating safe opportunities for our rangatahi to grow—is something we deeply respect and are proud to support.
We’re honoured to have been part of Logan and Caesar’s journey and can’t wait to see where their paths lead next. If our small role helped spark even a little more confidence or curiosity about the world of work, then we’re happy.
A big thank you to Pride Lands for the opportunity to collaborate, and for the incredible work you do for our young people across the community.
Ngā mihi nui,
The Paper Bag Princess Team
We’re so proud of how Logan and Caesar handled themselves, and they both 100% earned the growing references that they came away with. Perfect for taking to potential employers when they start looking for their first real jobs.
Thank you Paper Bag Princess for you trust and engagement, and thanks to Logan and Caesar for making us proud.
