Pride Lands has always been about “Seeing young people through to adults successfully” – 18 plus is the final step in the journey.
18+ Youth Programme
(Ages 18-25)
Transition support for rangatahi stepping into adulthood.
Turning 18 is a big milestone, but it doesn’t always mean everything suddenly feels easy. Pride Lands’ 18+ Youth Programme is designed for young people aged 18 to 25 who have previously been part of Pride Lands and would benefit from occasional guidance, mentoring, and connection as they navigate adult life.
Because our standard programme is aligned with government requirements, most young people exit Pride Lands when they turn 18. Over the years, we’ve consistently heard from whānau and young people that some extra support after 18 can make a real difference, especially during tough periods or major life changes.
It’s about giving skills and direction, not just solving issues which can create dependency.
Who?
This programme is for Pride Lands young people aged 18–25 who:
- are transitioning out of our regular Pride Lands services due to age
- want a safe, supportive space to talk things through
- would benefit from occasional mentoring and practical life guidance
Where?
Typically at Pride Lands Head Office (and we’ll confirm any other options during the trial).
See maps of our locations.
When?
This programme is designed for as-needed support, not weekly care. 1:1 mentor support frequency will depend on need and availability. Once a month, we’ll host a relaxed Adulting Seminar (quick questions, real-life advice, practical tools) at Head Office. Occasional social connection opportunities.
Trialling early 2026.
How much?
$39.50 per hour (mentor support sessions with minimum session of 2hrs), plus any additional costs for activities or travel. Seminars priced at the same hourly rate.
What the programme includes
1:1 Mentor Support (as needed)
Young people can book time with a mature adult mentor for practical guidance, support, and tools to build independence and confidence. These sessions are designed to help young adults think things through, not just be told what to do.
Adulting Seminar (monthly)
Once a month, we’ll host a relaxed Adulting Seminar at Head Office where young people can ask “quick-fire” questions about real-life challenges, like work, flatting, budgeting, relationships, confidence, routines, or navigating services.
Community & Connection
From time to time, we may also run optional social catch-ups or small group activities to help young people feel connected, build confidence, and increase their chances of finding work and pathways that suit their strengths and personality.
Trial starting 2026
We’ll be trialling the 18+ Youth Programme early in 2026 with a small group first. If the programme is successful, we’ll look at a wider rollout and make a full announcement in Term 4, 2026.
Visiting local businesses, learning what they do, and joining in when appropriate is a big part of what we do at Pride Lands.
